Ganesha Mudra

Ganesha Mudra

     This practice is named after Ganesha, the Elephant headed deity who is known as the remover of obstacles as well as the scribe of letter writing and learning. This practice is a Samyukta meaning “double” Hasta Mudra, where both hands are required to preform this practice.

     Ganesha is also said to place obstacles in our path to help us learn and grow. This deity is also thescribe of the epic story of the Bhagavad Gita which is also known as the Gita.  

     When preforming this practice we recommend chanting the Ganesha Mantra, Om Gum Ganapati Namaha.  

     This practice helps us to connect and awaken Prana meaning "life force energy" within us which helps us access our inner strength while boosting self confidence and relieving stress.

Practice

  • Sit in a Meditative Asana or a comfortable seated position, this gesture can also be preformed during a Pranayama practice.

  • Rub both palms together to activate the palms.
  • Bring the left hand in front of the Heart Chakra with the palm facing outward as the left thumb points down.

  • Bring the right hand to the left with the right palm facing the left palm.

  • Lock the fingers together by curling the tips of the four fingers in.



  • Duration

  • Practice for at least 15 minutes daily.

  • Hasta Mudras can be practiced for up to 45 minutes daily.
  • The best times for practice are between the hours of 2 a.m. - 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.


  • Awareness

  • While practicing bring your awareness to Anahata Chakra.
