Meditative Asanas

     The poses in this group are intend to aid the practitioner in sitting for long periods of time. Meditation requires a straight spine to be held without strain during the practice which these poses help to provide.

     Some people may find it easier to first preform a short Yoga Asana sequence before preforming the Meditative poses below or sitting for long periods to time. Also using a Meditation cushion, Pranayama bolster or a folded blanket will help to make sitting for long periods of time easier by raising the hips above the knees which takes pressure off the knees.
